MTW migrator confusion

- Whereas I fully understand the concept of how mtw migrator works, I am a little confused about something. It allows you to copy database content from an old 1.0 database to your new 1.5 database. However, how does this work if you are wanting to use the same domain? You would have to delete the old website before putting the new 1.5 on the domain. Unless of course you create a directory for the 1.5 installation and then somehow change it after migrating all the content across. Not sure if that is feasible?

Hello,
The better way is, you will need to migrate it and put on another place first before you make it live with previous domain, instead of doing directly on the current site.
After the migrated site is working, you can delete the old site and move the migrated site to the previous domain.

Aaah... thanks Arifin for this gem. I have been putting off migrating one of my old sites (a non-RT), waiting for this kind of advice to come along. I think I'll migrate the DB back to my local machine (with RT colors
this time) first, and move it to the old domain when I'm happy with it.

When you are finished with the site, and you're ready to move it back, try JoomlaPack.
