I have been looking all over for a shopping cart system, joomla or otherwise, that allows you to set various attributes to a product *and* shows the stock available per attribute.
Does anyone know of any such system?
I don't know how you can run a shop without this. OSCommerce has a contribution that lets you add quantity for each attribute, but it does not display in the shop.

Have to agree -- Virtuemart is the way to go...
there is a new commerce components in the works....cant wait tell its release...has some cool features -- called jcommerce http://joomlaequipment.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=13&Itemid=67

VirtueMart cannot track stock by attributes, which is essential. If you have 40 shirts to sell, with 10 size small, 15 size medium, and 15 size large, it can only keep track of how many shirts you have left, not how many of each size, so the customer could be buying a size that is sold out.
I have a product with six attributes and each attribute has 5 to 7 different options to choose from. I need to prevent the customer from selecting an attribute option that is sold out.
In the example with the shirts, where there is only 1 attribute and 3 options for that one attribute, you can create 3 child products and the customer would purchase the child product, but with my situation there are thousands of possible combinations.
I've been using VirtueMart for various shops and I find it disappointing. I would rather pay for one that works properly without the so many bugs and with support.

- not sure about user integration... but checkout Xcart... I believe joomlashack uses it as their cart and has nice visual flow... another is CS cart - I have not used this one but seems very similar to Xcart...

I use ZenCart, but it does not have that capability. There may be an extension that allows it. I used XCart while working for someone else and I think it might have had that capability. I wish I could check, but I no longer have access.
They are both offshoots of osCommerce. It's strange that this capability is not a standard feature.
