Joomla Virtual Server for Mac?

Is there a way to install Joomla locally on a Mac - perhaps an app such as JSAS (Joomla Stand Alone Server for Windows)?
I am trying to help a friend whom is interested in getting into Joomla, however he uses a Mac. I'm Windows guy and have no knowledge of Macs with Joomla.
Thank you very much for any information!
Strangely, a google search and a search at the Joomla site did not yield any helpful results.

- Mac OS X runs Apache/MySQL/PHP quite nicely, so it should be a standard install, just as if you were putting Joomla up on a Linux box. Google for "mac apache" to get started.

I was a little intimidated by the results of a google search on "mac apache" - not being a Mac guy and all... this MAMP looks like just what the doctor ordered!
