I appreciate the knowledge and expertise I am given every time I come to these forums.
What servers do you use and recommend? I have tried HostGator, but the sites I have built have been hacked so many times all of my information has since been lost.
I do a lot of webwork with multiple sites on one server, so I need a larger file limit.
What is a dependable server that doesn't have such a high security risk?
Well, I usually recommend people Downtownhost.com for shared hosting. They are in my opinion far better than hosts like HostGator. I will usually only use my own dedicated servers for hosting (5 at the moment), but I keep a DTH reseller account for testing/beta/development purposes.
As far as I know DTH has no limits on the amount of files nor the size of them.
I have been a HostGator user for 3 years but this company is like so many others a joke. They promise a lot of resources but when you reach a certain level they can't provide good service on their shared and dedicated servers.
I can't recommend enought
www.Servint.net
(VPS and Dedicated)
I started with a VPS and my website is hosted now on a VS-ENSA3. I'm going to purchase a second server with them to have more resources. Servint offers a great support and will allow you to grow in a secure environment. They are professionals, it's that simple.
I'm testing out
VPS.net
at the moment where you can pay for "nodes" that you may setup a vps. So far this seems to be a pretty good solution for those who would like to be able to upgrade the vps without transfering your existing one.
At the moment I'm testing a Debian with Nginx for caching with a second one for the database, and so far Joomla seem to thrive on it.
