Actually I brought it up on an earlier thread re: Mac vs. PC
I was basically saying that with the introduction of iPhone the scales have been seriously tipped in Apple's favor for my buying decision
Not just because it's an amazing phone, because it's mac/pc compatible. But consistently releasing such superior products really says something about the company and not just the product. It looks totally amazing. The perfect combination of what I've always wanted... my old iPaq and my old cell phone, combined together in a super slick package

i'm torn.. it's super super sweet, but for 600 bucks i would want more than an 8 gig ipod, especially as that has to store camera images, videos, etc. I bet the second gen will have longer battery life and 32gigs of flash memory or something. But even so, the 1st gen does look uber sweet, great phone, great ipod, great video player, and 802.11 to boot.. only hope they'll port skype for it

I was just reading that 'iPhone' has been a registered trademark of Cisco since 2000. They are suing Apple for use of the trademark. Cisco released a VoIP phone a little while back.

I agree that at $600 they are sorta stiffing people on the space.. would have been nice with 10/20gb models or something.
I don't know about you Uh-mericuns down there, but in Canada where I live we have two major cell service providers, and both of them offer major discounts on phones when you take our 1-3 year contracts with them. I'm guessing that they will come in the same range as the newest Blackberry, etc.. Something like $249 if you commit to a 3 year cell contract.

I think I read on CNN.com earlier today that yes, Cisco does own the trademark but a deal was about to be inked right as they were revealing the iPhone. Didn't mention anything about a lawsuit. - -- ChurchWiz - Easy & Affordable Church Websites

Hi Phil,
I think it was some financial site where I also was reading that Apple had been in negotiations with Cisco, for sometime, to use the 'iPhone' trademark. I don't think that was settled, was it?

I really like the look of the iPhone but a few things do disappoint, like the fact that there's no 3G for the uk market?! We're already accustomed to being able to download music/news/sports highlights/etc on regular phones - and you get the handset free with a 1 year contract!
The fact that it runs os x means that there will be plenty of cool new additions to the software available though, I can see it taking off just like the ipod when it's in gen2/3. I'm still saving for my mac book at the moment though!
