It's definitely a bit pricey, but with the amount of features and ease of use it offers, i dont think the price is too unrealistic. I think they've really made something amazing considering this is just the first generation phone. With the technologies they're using, there is so much room to improve and dramatically increase the things it can do. I'll be waiting to see what they do with the second generation of iPhones!
In the meantime, I'll think ill be heading to the Apple store this June just to mess around with it...it sure is sexy

, but in Canada where I live we have two major cell service providers, and both of them offer major discounts on phones when you take our 1-3 year contracts with them. I'm guessing that they will come in the same range as the newest Blackberry, etc.. Something like $249 if you commit to a 3 year cell contract.

i dont own a cellphone anymore, mainly because of the intrusion factor but also because if i'm not online there is nothing i can do for anyone anyway .. but this might make me think twice

I would wait till ver 2. It is super sexy but lacks in basic cell features and battery life and AT@T - forget it.
Heck...you can't even swap the battery!
The apple lemmings will blindly buy this in droves.
In NY, driving and talking on a phone is not legal.
I can just see the idiots trying to dial this thing while driving - it takes two hands and you need to look at the screen!
