Updating Users in Joomla

- I am planning to migrate a 1.015 website to 1.5. I have already migrated the script and the website iis on temporary URL.Is quite a large website so it's not an overnight job. Then something dawned upon me last night. I have migrated the script and will export the forum tables at the last minute so I don't end up wiping out people's posts. It's going to take me anything up to 4 weeks before it's finished. By this time, there may be another 200 members who have joined the old website. Is there any way of updating their members on my new 1.5 site. I don't think the database is much different between 1.5 1.0 is it? Can I just take the users tables from my 1.0 site on and drop them into the new website?
