    Binary Images

Posted 15 years 9 months ago
    • I have a client that has a website written in ASP, which I know nothing about. I am going to convert his website to Joomla but the images are not in a file system. I am assuming they are written in binary code on the database. He has about 26,000 products and was wondering if anyone knows how to extract the binary data and convert it to a jpg image file. Is there an application out there that would do this? I am trying to determine a quote for him... but not knowing how much work will be involved with the images is holding me up.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks a bunch!

    • I searched 'convert binary code to image files' and could only get info for the opposite direction, converting and image to a binary file....

I would tend believe to reverse the process you need to know what program did the conversion in the first place.

Of course I could be wrong, there may be some universal encoder / decoder you could use but I couldn't find it...

I'd start by asking the client for a bit more information, who created the files, how they were created, etc.

If all 26,000 files need to be converted, without a straightforward process, you may be looking at a migraine. :o
