    Super Bowl Grills

Posted 18 years 2 months ago
    • Super Bowl Sunday...
This is second load. First one was 3 racks ribs & 10 lb Boston Butt. Rubbed with my own recipe... left in fridge for 24 hours..then smoked for 14.
Alll the wings will be gone by 2PM... then have to load up the shrimp and steak.
There will be plenty here... but you better hurry...cause it don't last long.
(The chicken wings have a secret message... use your secret decoder mood rings boys and girls...!)

There's plenty of room for all of God's creatures.
Right next to the mashed potatoes.

    • Let's see...
Eight 12 year old boys have been here since 5 pm Saturday. Spent the night... but weren't allowed to listen to Michael Jackson CD's.
Six 19 year old college girl friends of my daughters spent the night... which meant ...
Three of my 16 year old sons friends decided to drop by and stay as well..... my 21 year old son had already planned on bringing
      Two of his friends...

Most of these were children of the group of roughly 10 families that have been getting together every year for almost 20 years. It kind of started because as parents we couldn't really go out an party after our kids were born. This year happened to be "my year" to host the deal.
So... there are probably close to 50 that's been coming and going since 5PM yesterday. It's a good time. Everybody chips in on food... some are probably getting their stuff off the grill right now. Breakfast this AM was 4 dozen eggs, two loaves of bread, three pks of bacon, 1 lb of grits, 5lb block of cheese, a gallon and a half of milk, 2.5 can of coffe, and 3 gallons of OJ.
I've cooked all day... all the chicken wings are gone and they've gone thru I don't know how many hot dogs and hamburgers. They have a football game from 1PM to 4PM every year...and that brings a bunch of others.
The 4 slabs of ribs that I cooked are wrapped in tinfoil now and are in the warming trays. They will be awesome when we pull them out at half time (sort of a tradition).
I really don't know how many total.. but it's a bunch. We have 10 TV's in various places around the house... my daughter is taking pictures... I'll try to upload some before she heads back to college...

So... are you moving to VT? is that what I read somewhere?

Wow! That is a load of folks. I like it when a crowd comes around and enjoys themselves. Looks like you've got a nice one going!

Yes, it looks like I'll be moving to VA (not VT), just west of Alexandria and Wash. DC. It's supposed to be a very nice area, but cold in the winter and hot and sticky in the summer. Can't beat San Diego climate. At least I can travel back a few ties each year to visit my daughter and her husband and the kids. Gotta stack that cheese, right now.
