Can't install components, 500 internal server error?

Posted 15 years 5 months ago
    • I was hoping one of the incredible developers here could help me out with this issue that's driving me nuts. I built a rather simple website for a customer using the Infuse template. I installed the site using Joomlapack which was no problem at all, however now I realize that the Joomlapack component is corrupt and I can't install components no matter what I do. I get Internal Server Error 500 every time. When checking the log files it says
[Sat Oct 31 12:11:41 2009] [error] [client 69.248.188.41] File does not exist: /home/themons/public_html/500.shtml, referer: http://www.themonsterengine.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer

Also for some reason my Joomlapack component is now corrupt as well. I did not change anything to cause these problems...but I really want to have the ability to install components back! I tried messing around with permission settings but that did nothing.

      Server is running :

      Apache version 2.2.14 (Unix)
      PHP version 5.2.11
      MySQL version 4.0.27-standard
      Architecture i686
      Operating system Linux

Any help?? I appreciate it guys thanks a lot

    • Its probably a problem with the permissions. double check that you have read write.

I did set the components folder to 777 momentarily to see if it would solve the problem , but it did not. Any other possiblities? I heard something about apache folder permissions vs. user permissions (I have no idea what these things mean)

      Thanks guys

    • Don't know if this will fix it, but worth a shot, if it's not what you've already done...

Back up the site with JoomlaPack, upload the zipped package and extract it on the server, as opposed to FTPing the files from your computer, then run the install.

You may also want to check the JoomlaPack forums for similar issues and possible solutions.

Jem this is the way the site was originally installed from local to server. Oddly enough, I get a 500 server error when going to HELP>>SYSYEM INFO via back panel. I think these are related....I will try the joomlapack forum thank you
