Adding myself as super admin in Joomla

I created a site for a friend last year, and for reasons I am unsure of, I do not appear as a user in any form. I usually set myself up as super admin
It is J1.5 running in legacy
How can I find out what happened here, or at least how do I now add myself as super admin

I should add, that although I dont appear in the User manager, I still do receive system emails for new users etc
