Unpublished Items Get Indexed by SE

    • Hi, I notice that unpublished items on my site are indexed by search engine. How can we prevent the unpub items from being indexed without deleting the items? Thanks.

    • Were these items previously published? If so just wait till the next site crawl and you will find that they are no longer indexed by the search engines.

    • In fact, they are standard items from Joomla like newsfeed, weblinks, etc.

    • A timely question .

I discovered today that MosetsTree on my website is listed in Google. I only had it published on my site for a short period to test it out. It hasn't been published on my website for nearly six months.

I received two emails last night from my website telling me I had links to approve. I eventually discovered the links were spammed to MosetTrees link suggestion function. I did a Google search on my website and Voila! It explains why my counter has been going through the roof lately and why I have a huge number of 404 page hits.

If Google already has the links in its database, is it possible that it will revist via that link even though its not publish on the website?

Hmmm... this is all very interesting (and quite vexing) and I would like to hear more about this problem and any potential solutions.

      Cheers!
