New ways to Post Articles from the Front End?

I'm using the Refraction theme. I want to set up a section of my site so that approved publishers/authors can post articles on a blog type page. Each publisher lives in a different city so I want to be able to categorize the publishers' by location. Also, I want them to post articles from the front end only and only be able to edit their own articles, nothing else on the site.
What's the best way to set this up? They would need to log-in from the front end, post, log out and I would have to manage and register their user accounts, right? What kind of editor would they use to post? I simple editor like the one I'm using now to post this is fine. Nothing fancy. Text, smilies, photos, links. And no article comments necessary.
In the past year I've seen new kinds of plug-ins and things that have really expanded joomlas' capabilities. Any suggestions? Has any here set this up before? Thanks.

- Everything you're asking for is already included in Joomla. The only thing missing is being able to limit each person to their own category. There are some components out that will do this for you, but it's going to be included in Joomla 1.6 core also. When a user submits an article as an author, you will have to publish it, this gives you a chance to check and make sure it's in the right place. You can set the user to Publisher to allow them to publish it directly.
