SOLVED Does Google spyder content behind Joomla's Login?

Posted 15 years 3 months ago
    • So just curious - probably a stupid question - but does Google have the ability to spyder content that is BEHIND the security of the Joomla Login module? I.E. - articles that are only shown to registered users - will they get spydered somehow?

We have a client with sensitive materials that are only for users and I would hate to see this stuff get crawled.

    • No...but there is a new option Google offers to let it, should you want to.

    • Lol .Heck no!

On another similar topic - if a secure article on our site contains links to several PDFs on our server, how on earth do we protect those PDF's from just being access thru the browser (i.e. www.domain.com/pdf-folder/ )

I would hate to put a pw on that folder and cause registered users to use TWO passwords to access content. Surely there's a better way?

    • Perhaps a repository solution like DocMan?

      extensions.joomla.org/extensions/directo...tion/downloads/10958

If you put a blank index file in pdf-folder, no one would see the filenames; however, anyone with the precise URL to the files could access then, of course...

Short of password-protecting the pdfs themselves, I would use one of the file repository toys out there, I guess...but file management is not my bag, so I yield to everyone else. ;)

    • Good idea. The joomla.org forum seems to agree with you. Thanks for the responses Terp
