Editors and Publishers

    • Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I have just installed Joomla today and installed the PixelPerfect Template which is great.

I've started looking at the user manual for Joomla though and already have question.

I setup and Author and then submitted a news article. I then logged in as an Editor and Publisher I had setup, but it doesn't give a list of articles that have been submitted that need reviewing/publishing?

The article is there because if I navigate into the news section I can find it and it shows as unpublished, but this seems crazy if you have to *find* the submitted articles as on a big site they could be hidden away.

I think I must be missing something but really can't seem to find anything.

      Can anyone help?

      Cheers, Mark.

    • When creating a new article one must also Publish it.

      See the attached image.

      Cheers!

    • Robin,

      Thanks for the reply.

A user account which is an 'author' does not have the 'state' property on the publishing tab so they have to wait for someone else to review it and then set the state to publish.

The problem is when you login as a publisher there is no mention that a user has submitted content that needs approval.

I still can't see how someone setup as an editor or publish can do their job unless they get told there is content that needs looking at. They can't be expected to trawl through the site looking for content they have not noticed and checking if it unpublished or not! (can they?!)

      Cheers, Mark.

    • Hmmm... are you sure about that because the screenshot that I had attached was from the front end - one does have to scroll down to see the options mind you.

In the admin backend/ Site/ Global Configuration, do you have "Frontend User Params:" set to "Yes"?

      Cheers!

      *Edit*
Sorry, my mistake, I see now that you are talking about "Authors". Have you considered giving Authors Publishers rights? Or is that not going to work for what you want to do?
