I want to create a simple category/archive/summary page for my Joomla blog postings. The page would just list the blog categories I have created along with links to all the posts in those categories. I am new to Joomla, and don't understand what kind of page to create for this purpose, and how to populate the categories and links. My site is
www.estrategyone.com
. My blog is new with only about 25 posts in 5 categories, but I think this is enough to create a summary/archive/category page. How do I do this?
First off, you can auto-archive articles by setting a Finish Publishing date in the Publishing tab of the Content Item edit screen.
Secondly, you can manually archive articles in the admin backend/ Contents Item Manager.
To create a menu item to an archive:
admin backend/ Menu Manager/ Main Menu (or whatever menu you want the menu item to appear in)
In the Menu Manager screen click New
In the New Menu Item screen choose Blog - Content Category Archive OR Blog - Content Section Archive - whichever suits your needs.
I hope that this is somewhat helpful and good luck.

Thank you! I struggled with a few trial and error attempts, but your explanation and images finally gave me just what I needed. I now have a blog category archive for my site under a tab called Buzz.
Thanks again for helping a newbie! The more I use Joomla, the more it makes sense!
You are very welcome Rich, I'm happy to help! Should you have any questions please feel free to post them, I think that you will find that this community is very knowledgeable and is willing to share the knowledge, somewhat of a rarity for online forums.
Best of luck to you and cheers!
