Recommend a chair

    • I've made do with old or cheap office chairs for too long now. I need a new chair and who better to ask than those who sit in chairs at their PCs for long periods of time. Poking around net I see so many styles and designs that my head is spinning. On top of that, I can't try out any of them. For me, I need something that will help me sit up straight and support my lower back. In typical executive leather chairs I tend to slide in the seat and end up slouched over in terrible posture.

I know this a very subjective topic but I'd really like to hear from some of you who have dropped some $$ on good chairs. What would you recommend and from where. I know nothing about brand names and who makes quality, comfortable products. All I know is I won't mind paying for a good chair this time around. Please post links.

Are the mesh chairs comfortable? They seem to be popular. I'm 6 feet tall and will need something with a tall enough back. Lumbar support would be a huge bonus.

Thanks for helping. Hope this isn't too far off topic.

    • Herman Miller Aeron.

There are three sizes, for three different frame types, and at 6 feet you'd probably be a C (like I am).

The chairs are expensive, but for anyone who has ever had to sit in front of a PC for 16+ hours with only bathroom breaks, there is no substitute.

    • Here's what I use, it's the ultimate in state of the art ergonomic design; and is not very expensive. Very few chairs have come close to the sheer comfort and design of this beauty.

    • When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realised God doesn’t work that way, so I stole
      one and prayed for forgiveness.

    • This is a pic of me in my office chair. It has an electro-static control that my wife uses to regulate the number of hours I spend in front of the computer. ;D

    • The previous chairs that were mentioned were nice chairs indeed but out of my price range. I need to get 2 chairs. I've only sat in one mesh chair at the local office supply place and I loved it. Very comfortable and adjustable! But the price was $660. What do you think of this one? Does it have all of the bells and whistles?
