We're creating a copy of our site on a subdomain intended for employees (registered-only access), so I set the HOME default menu item to registered, which is great because everyone needs to login before proceeding, however the ugly standard Joomla authentication plugin sucks visually. I know there are tons of better looking Login modules out there, but is there any way to have Joomla utilize one of these as opposed to the standard plugin for authentication in this case?
1)Made all menu items in my main menu access:REGISTERED
2)Created a new menu with a single article item called Pre-Login - Set this to default
3)Published a cool-looking login module to the above pre-login page, with URL redirection in the parameters set to the real home-page and logout url redirection back to the pre-login page
This is maybe not the correct way, but it sure as hell works
