I was wondering what you guys set your monitors at regarding resolution. Do you change it when you are doing different tasks? I have got a couple of 23 inch and the recommended resolution is 1920 x 1200. I can see advantages and disadvantages with having a resolution set like this. The advantage of having a high resolution with a large monitor is if you are using programs such as Photoshop, or fireworks, obviously have that much more space on your desk top. However, websites with a fixed width tend to look a little bit smaller. Just wondered what your thoughts were on this?
For general purpose use I run my 2 old 22" crt's at 1024 x 768.
Fyi, at high resolutions, using Ctrl and the + or - keys (Windows) is very handy (zoom in or out of the page), works a treat.
Cheers

1280 x 800 on the laptop that I use for all my development work. I also test the website on another laptop with a resolution of 1024 x 768 just to make sure that it looks OK.
1920x1200 on my 24", 1680x1050 on my 22" and 1920x1200 on my 17".
Higher resolution is always better. Your comment about fixed width sites appearing small is misplaced I think. You shouldn't have your browser filling the entire page! The window should be at a suitable dimension to accommodate the web page, any more than that, you are just wasting space.
There is no point having larger screens with higher resolutions if you are not going to take advantage of it. Fill the extra space with other programs
