Does anyone know how to setup windows server 2003 to run Joomla? I have looked on the net and seen that I can use IIS with PHP and MySQL. And seen where some people are just using WAMP. What are you guys using? Oh and if you go the route of using IIS, PHP and MySQL do I have to install Apache?
XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. XAMPP is really very easy to install and to use - just download, extract and start.
Are most people using XAMPP or WAMP? And I have WAMP installed already. Will it be ok to uninstall WAMP and install XAMPP without and thing messing up? Oh, and someone from thr Joomla forum suggested I use Zend Server CE. Do you know anything about this?
Maybe some one will have a definitive answer here, but in the meantime, you should probably Google for answers as this is not an RT / template specific question.
I wouldn't recommend installing joomla on IIS, it is not very well supported and SEF urls can be a pain unless you are willing to shell out of a extension for isapi rewrite(the free one is very buggy). SEF urls also require a custom htaccess file too.
I found with all the hassle involved with IIS just to get the install working like on linux, I just switched back.
Brain. So what do you recommend me doing with the windows server? I have WAMP on it now. I' about to install Joomla on it and see if it will work. If that doesn't work I found a video on google on how to install Joomla on a windows server without WAMP Here it is.
