Hi there, I'm looking to launch a....sort of directory style website where clubs can register, but also look to grow their membership through social aspects....so it's a kind of hybrid of facebook and a yellowpages. The domain I want to buy *********.co.uk is already taken.......but the domain *********.info is available. The site is only going to be targeted at the UK market, so don't need international results in the search engines. A few questions: Will a .info have the exact same opportunity to get to the top as a more trustworthy .co.uk or .com ? Also...is a .info actually UN-trustworthy? They're an expensive option from my registrar. Also, the same domain.... ********.org is also available...so there's room for manoeuvre.
Seeing as the site, is going to effectively be an information site...it almost seems logical to use a .info anyway? What do people think? Has anyone had any experience with this? You don't often see a .info at the top of the SERPS, but is that because they're cheap, and inexperienced webmasters get hold of them and just use them badly...or use them for a scraper site or something?
Would be very interested to hear your thoughts, as I might need to think of a new domain name.....as the .co.uk is gone :/
