    Artwork Samples

Posted 14 years 7 months ago
    • I thought I'd give you guys a sample of my work. I am probably gonna build a site soon dedicated to displaying my artwork, but for now, these samples will give you an idea of what kind of stuff I've been doing.

My Mother writes children's stories called "The Christian Panda Bears"and has a couple of stories ready for publication. She asked me to do the illustrations for the series.
Below is some concept work I was working on for her project (concept work only):

    • I did this work last night. I was studying the effects of moonlight on objects and how it plays with shadow!
What do you think? Any good?

    • Sorry for the poor cam shot... my scanner is on the blink. So, I've been using my cellphone camera until I get it fixed.

    • For my Grandmother on Mother's day!

The Old Mill (Pugh's Old Mill) - Little Rock, AR.
Was featured in the opening credits of "Gone with the Wind."

Estimated time for project: 1.5 weeks

The actual rendering is larger (14"X17") than my scanner will scan (11"X17") so it's cut off a bit.

      The Boring Details:

      Smooth-Bristol 14"X17"
1- Layout was done with col erase blue pencil
      2- Graphite F thru 8b
3- Wax-based and Watercolor Colored pencils
4- Fine detail in the stone work was done with .5mm mechanical pencil.
5- Granite stones were done with various graphite and blended with tissue (for softness) I also used a textured-rub technique for the granite.
6- Window and door shadows were first blended with various graphite and then I used a X-Ray marking pencil for darkest areas (more depth).
7- Sky was done with wax-based color pencils and then blended with white crayola crayon then softened with paper towel (works really well).
