Now that Joomla 1.6 Alpha 2 is out and Beta 1 is coming soon, I'd like to ask a question or two:
When does Rocket Theme plan to release their first 1.6 template?
Have you thought about releasing a simple, but functional template for 1.6? -- Something along the lines of Afterburner or Versatility 4 - useful for a wide array of websites. Doesn't need to have the huge flexibility typical of Rocket Theme templates.
I want to start working with 1.6 and will implement some really simple sites in Joomla 1.6 as soon as possible so I can begin to get a feel for it.
Sorry, if this topic / question is elsewhere on this forum - When you search for "Joomla 1.6", the "1.6" part gets stripped from the search and you end up with 4,000+ posts to wade through!
ALSO: Perhaps you could set up a Joomla 1.6 area on the forum so that we have a place to communicate about 1.6 as it progresses to the first stable version.

I'm not really talking about a full-blown release. More like a simple template that can evolve as J1.6 moves towards stable release.
I want to play with it, learn it, and see what we need to do with our existing sites.
Has anyone seen a specification for the J 1.6 templating system? I might even want to try my hand at building a simple template just to get my feet wet.

I hate to rain on you parade, but chances of this happening are close to if not 0%.
The RT developers release one template per month and I think it's highly unlikely that they would release a '1.6 pre-release'.
As I stated before, I'm sure they are working behind the scenes, but they wont release a 1.6 template until 1.6 is stable.

- Greetings, I guess 1.5 templates will not work in 1.6. Has there been an assessment of how much work is involved in changing 1.5 to work in 1.6? If so is how easy / difficult will this be. It would be great to keep my current template (Dominion) for 1.6. Many thanks.

- It would be interesting to see an updated post from RT on this issue, since 1.6 has been released as a stable version for over a month now. The latest RT theme is NOT 1.6 ready, and there's no word on when we'll be seeing 1.6 templates. After the first buzz about 1.6 "coming soon" in which they state that they'll be ready when it is, RT has been quite silent (from what I have been able to see)

It looks like they have been busy working on Magento templates and completely forgot about their Joomla users. My disappointment in RT is growing larger and larger every day.

- Don't complain about the Magento releases. I also work on Magento works, and i know how hard Magento can be to work with. And compare the massive amount of Joomla templates, that's why they going to Magento to get a wider range.

I have been working on the Magento templates/extensions for the last year and a half. I have never worked with Joomla, and have absolutely nothing to do with any Joomla development here at RocketTheme. Just as the Joomla guys have absolutely nothing to do with any Magento development. So please refrain from using this as an argument for your disappointment with the timeframe for the Joomla 1.6 updates. - STEP 1 IN MAGENTO DEVELOPMENT - DISABLE YOUR CACHE OR YOU WON'T SEE ANY CHANGES.
