Firefox ate my Clipboard

  • Firefox ate my Clipboard

    Posted 18 years 3 weeks ago
    • For some reason, no matter what I do to Firefox, it will not allow be to insert something into it from the clipboard. For example, I was trying to copy and paste a mass of text into a content item and it says I cannot!

      A popup appears with a message saying to edit some files which I subsequently did to no avail.

      Anyone have any ideas?

    • Do you have the latest version of FF?

      Once I switched to 2.0, I could copy and paste with ease.

    • Yeah im in latest version...its only really when im editing content with Joomla!

      In IE7 (shivers by writing such an abomination), when I paste into content, i get a little popup if i wish to allow the Browser to "tap" into my clipbpard. I click access and voila. I just get an error message in FF

    • Doh! I remember having that issue.... and I'm trying to remember what I did to fix it. (I think it was back in the Mambo days.)

      What does the error say? Maybe that will jog my memory. I seem to recall it had something to do with javascript or macro permissions...

    • You'll have to quit Mozilla/Netscape before you do this!

      Find the files "prefs.js" and "user.js" on your local computer. Open them up with a texteditor and add the following lines:

      user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy", "allAccess");
      user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste", "allAccess");
      user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "allowclipboard");
      user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", " www.YOUR SERVER HERE.com");

      " www.YOUR SERVER HERE.com" of course must contain the URL of the server you want to allow to execute clipboard functions (such as cut, copy and paste).

      Restart your browser.

      Look familar

    • Heh. Nope. Not the same thing I had going.

      Mine wasn't that complicated.

      Glad you got it fixed.
