i use jce in all my sites and have never come across all those scripts.
it's probably a jce plugin that you have installed. remove it as it is doing more harm than good.
as for the gifs, remove them and replace with lighter images... max 15KB each. - Say no to Internet Explorer 6.

Why max 15kb gifs gollum?
Is that some sort of magic size or..?
I mean big banners and animation will always exceed that size.
It's a Swedish site so I dont think visitors connections will be a problem - they all got 10mbit over there

Well, I have the same banners on my current live site, and that's not that syrup-like.
I'll look over my jce-plugins and see if that helps anything...

Don't have any special plugin installed. JCEutilities and JCE editor mambot are the ones.
I've removed jsmf that didn't work that well, and it might be a little faster now but I'm not quite satisfied yet.
