    • Hey Roeland, my sincere appreciation for taking the time to give me expert perspective on this issue. It has changed my outlook on where to move forward. Looking beyond Jomsocial I will look at the rokclub module - however, I think when I installed phpbb3 I did it on separate databases - Murphy's law, as they say in the UK. So, not sure what to do now!
I believe not many have realised the actual power of rokbridge and phpbb3, which is a bit of a dissapointment to me.

I think phpbb3 is superb, and maybe I haven't looked properly, but there is not much out there to indicate what else rokbridge can do for those who are not developers, like me, other than be a brilliant bridge for the brilliant rockettheme templates (which in itself is genius).

    • I'll give you a simple example:
Check how many mysql queries only your frontpage will do and then add the queries that any additional module that will run for every users that logs in. Then you'll understand, your shared server is going to probably well, after some time, give up.
I am not trying to scare you, and well, now you can ask, the question has come up before.
(To be honest, do you think you can buy an app like this for $150 and expect it to work with +2000 users? Let's be realistic, that bird doesn't fly)

    • 21000 users in jomsocial or on their site? I think it is best to ask on jomsocial forum if the question has not been asked before, but they are optimizing it, so who knows.
It is a nice product and I hope it will progress.

    • I looked at a potential alternative to jomsocial and considered kickapps. I tried it but the advertising is horrid if wanting the free version. Anyway, as a trial I tried installing the single login feature which is meant to be a single sign in for Joomla and kickapps, but with rokbridge installed on my site I think it doesn't want to work. Even if it did, the kickapps advertising puts me off. Moreover, my humble site has intentions of selling a small, commercial book production service, but with Kickapps they look at your category of website and then add taylor advertising to it - meaning competing companies adverts appear on your site. Useless, unless you pay good money - $40 per month and more, depending on number of pages viewed on your kickapps pages.
