    • Let me know if you still need help.
I use plesk and I could help you setup your plesk setup if you pm me a ID and ip to your plesk admin.

    • Hi everyone,

I appreciate the advice and comments. I didn't mean to bump myself up, and I certainly didn't mean to get knocked off a queue. I was just in a bit of panic as my client was freaking out on me. I believe the problem stems from a owner/group setting. Using my ftp I can change the permissions, but can't change the user/group. The only way i could get this working was to change a couple of the problematic folders to 777 instead of 755 and that's done the trick. I'm hoping to look into how I can change the owner/group but I think I have to do that through their VPN and I honestly don't know how. In the meantime I've been busy with development.

Does anyone know, should the owner and group be the same thing? On other hosts (using cpanel and shared hosting) the owner and group is the same, which is the username on the host account. In the above situation it's not, and that's why I'm suspecting the permissions issue. I'm going to look further into it. If I find an answer I'll post here in case anyone else comes across this same issue.

Thanks, I apologize for my impatient posting.

    • Plesk is set up
ssh to your domain ls -al
you will see the owner and group
then just chown -R user:group httpdocs
so it should look as owner:psaserv

    • Hi lafrance,

Sorry, it's confusing to me. I don't exactly know how to chown, or even how to ssh.

I am on a mac. I use transmit 4 as my ftp. I can get into plesk via the regular browser. However if I need to I will contact the host for assistance. I appreciate the help, thank you very much.
