Tiny-MCE

    • Hi everyone,
I clicked the clean messy code button inside TinyMCE just to see what it would do.
      I wish I didnt.
Now whenever I load an article when TinyMCE is enabled is seems to clean up the code on load, and if I save it ruins my page styling. The weirdest thing is that I already have clean code on load set to 'Off' and clean code on save set to 'Never' inside Tiny-MCE options.
Now I cant use some of the page stying options inside Tiny MCE because I need to keep it disabled.
      How do I fix this?

    • You might try the old reboot method. (deinstall and reinstall)

    • Or do another Joomla install and do a side by side comparison of each and every setting.
    • Thank you,

    • TinyMCE is (imho) lacking.
I suggest using JCE instead if you need a WYSIWYG editor

    • Better still - remove Tiny-MCE as the default editor and replace it with JCE - www.joomlacontenteditor.net/

Or use RokPad to edit and clean code.

      Hope this helps 8)

      hi houston,

afaik, tinymce is a core plugin and can not be uninstalled through the install/uninstall function in the joomla admin. i might be wrong though?

tinymce can definitely cause some major headaches, there are better options out there as chris mentioned. i love rokpad www.rockettheme.com/blog/extensions/399-rokpad-better-than-none

    • Thanks for all your replies.
I dunno whats up with my install of joomla sometimes, everything seems ok, but some things just dont work right - ever since I got the new windows7 64bit desktop. I had a look at the rok tabs extension - it looks good, and the undo command looks like it could be handy. I checked my settings and rokpad is already enabled and set as default, but I have no editor at all currently working inside my articles.
Its a bit of a pain, but its helping me to understand xhtml better. I might try saving out all my content at some point soon and try a full reinstall of joomla, and the extensions but really, I'm starting to think that my issues are probably with Xampp and I might might need to build my site/s online instead.
      Thanks again everyone -
      Scott

    • if you having a lot issues with the dev site on XAMPP it is always a good idea to try it on alive server just to see the difference, if any.

    • Yeah I kind of thought that.
I let a number of little issues go while I was playing around on the localhost version of the site.
I thought maybe xampp might be causing me some problems, and there was little point asking for help as no-one would have been able to see my problem to help me out with it anyway.
I've got a live site now - this should be a step in the right direction.
Regarding Content Editors, someone else told me JCE is good as well but haven't looked at it yet.
I'm with you Kat05 - I'm using RokPad now and finding it to be really helpful.
      Thanks everyone.

    • Rokpad is the best imho but for those who have need of a WYSIWYG editor then JCE is a good solution. :cheesy:
