XSS Patches available for all templates

Hello Andy,
We like Versatility - May07 and plan to use it without selector buttons. Two questions:
1. Is the security patch still needed?
2. Are there any draw backs to deleting the selector buttons?

I was affected by this if my understanding is correct. Someone was able to add a javascript to my index.php file. It's a crazy script trying to load something and to redirect people to
www.pepato.org
.
The script was way way on the bottom of the page making it unnoticeable.
Glad this guy didnt do anything further than that.

Preface: I just joined. I'm probably missing something.
However, when I try to download the themes, all I'm finding are the patches - not the actual themes themselves. I hope I'm missing something, but either way, please help!

- I just checked and all downloads are there. Better contact the sales department and make sure they entered your info correctly.

Why didn't we receive an email about this? Here I am using a number of your templates only to fund out I am vulnerable after I log onto your site.
Every software author out there should offer at least two email options, one for general news to opt in/out of and one for security notices. Do you have this and I simply have not seen it on this site?
