    • You overlooked what I said, are oyu installing the sample data? if so... thats where all your old data has gone... its getting written over...

      Just simply re-install the data back into the new database...

      you may have to help the .sql file through the installation, but the easiest way to do it, would be drop all the tables and import the sql back into it..

    • I'm honestly not sure what you are saying. The only time I had ever been prompted about sample data was when I first installed the template last month on the old server. If that is what you are talkting about then yes, at that time I had installed sample data, but I have not been asked about sample data at any point of transferring it to the new server. I had assumed that my old menus and articles were contained in the database and would be put there when I imported.

    • There is only so much I can do on a forum without seeing the problem. I asked you a few times to get in touch with me either by messenger (in my signature) or e-mail me, message me something. Take care.

    • There is really nothing more I can say in email that I haven't already said here, and it's probably best to keep the discussion on the board in case anyone in the future is searching for a solution to a similar problem.

      At this point I have just unloaded the problem onto the host for the first site. If they want to be able to continue billing me, they will figure out how to get it moved. As for the other sites, they are new and nothing that can't be changed easily. I'm redoing them all in php without joomla so that I at least know that they will work the way they are suppose to. I guess Joomla is ok for someone who wants to have a web site without learning any programming, but it has been completely unproductive for me because I have wasted a lot of valuable time on nonsense problems like this one. I'll be glad to be rid of the garbage.

    • Joomla is an exceptional tool (that is free, may I mention...). But it does take time to learn. All I wanted you to contact me for was to let me in and see what the problem was on the other side... Its fine... I dont know if you really know you way around, so Its hard for me to keep going back and forth when I could have gotten in fixed in a minute or two...

      The main fix to start off is just to log into the back end (/administrator) and change the default template so you at least see the site, but you either messes up and didnt get the template folder ftp'd correctly, or the sql import correctly.

      I would be available if you want to continue with Joomla to set up and configure sites for you on a regular basis if you need the assistance... Just wanting to spread the love of RT..

    • I appreciate the offer Jeremy. At this point I'm content to leave it in the hands of the new host, who is now on their second attempt with this.

    • Hi
      I just moved my site. No problem at all.
      Step by step:

      - FTP all the files in public_html catalog to new host.
      - created a new empty database at the new host
      - exported the database form the old host thru MySQL Admin
      - imported the sql export file in the new database at the new host thru MySQL Admin
      - edited the configuration.php file locaded in the public_html catalog (www root)
      var $dbtype = '';
      var $host = '';
      var $user = '';
      var $db = '';
      var $password = '';
      - uploded the new configuration.php file

      All good :)
