We currently use joomla's standard SEF URL's and have found a number of duplicate urls to the same page.
"Kat" mentioned "sh404sef" so I have duley downloaded and have change global setting to all off for SEO URL's. I can get the home page up BUT any other page comes up with an error "404 Not Found". (I removed the htaccess before switching on sh404sef).
When I set it back to just using the standard Joomla SEF URL's and add back the htaccess file all works.
Ok kind of worked:
When you go to say our services in the URL is index.php and does not show with css.
example:
www.domain.com/index.php/our-services
is there a way of removing the "index.php" and would this solve the issue??
Thanks Danny
in your sh404sef configuration, you can may choose with .htaccess (mod_rewrite) for the rewriting mode to remove the "index.php"
Having a few issues with sh404sef. We have a number of pages index and I'm thinking I would like to still use the standard Joomla SEF URL's. To save any issue with losing pr / search rankings. I've been looking at the global settings for:
SEO Settings and this is now there set at present
Search Engine Friendly URLs Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite Yes
Add suffix to URLs Yes
I played about with the suffix on and off and managed to get rid of the error with "home-mainmenu-71.html" with the suffix on "No" But this messed the whole site as there was no ".html". I thought I had cracked it but no..... any more help would be great
Amandeep I've just tried this with your website and the same thing happens:
www.softlogique.com/home-mainmenu-71.html
shows the same content as your home page!! ???? Still trying to work out how to fix this. ...............
Have you tried using default Joomla 1.5 SEO, its pretty good, you probably don't need sh404sef as Joomla itself can probably provide your needs. Seems there are a lot of issues with 3rd party SEO components. Is there any reason for sh404sef or is just because its something you've always used.
