OK an hour on the phone with tech support and alas they do have an unzip utility, so deleted everything, added the .zip, uncompressed it... and... the same thing.
Not really trying to give you are hard time with my previous post but installing Joomla and the template are really not part of support as outlined in the TOS. You should be able to at least get that far before you start to ask template related questions. We try to help when we can but we can’t perform miracles if you have some problem FTPing the files to your host, or your host doesn’t provide you with the most basic features that should be included in a CP / hosting package.
I feel your pain, and actually had a terrible time when I first started with Joomla. I uploaded a RL no less than fifteen times from five different computers on DSL, Cable, and even a T1 connection. Each time files were missing or corrupt.
I spent day trying to resolve the issue. After tearing my hair out, it finally boiled down to a sub-par hosting issue.
I signed up with a new host, uploaded the package, extracted it, ran the install and was working on my site in less than 30 minutes.
Again, consider your hosting option, and as I mentioned be sure they are meeting the minimum requirements for Joomla hosting.
I followed your link and on screen 2 got this message:
Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser client. You will not be able to install the application with this feature disabled. Alternatively, there could also be a problem with the server's session.save_path. If this is the case, please consult your hosting provider if you don't know how to check or fix this yourself.
Thanks and I understand, can you just install it for me. I have tried 3 different PC's now and I don't understand how it let you get to page two. Maybe once it is installed it will be Ok, I switched hosts from Valueweb to Bizland as I had a million issues and they seemed to have every feature imaginable so it has to be a setting on my server. Thank you for the support, I just neeed to get it installed been almost 3 days now on something so stupid as this.
Well, if you can't install it I don't see how I can.
If you are receiving errors, I'll certainly receive the same ones.
You could try a different browser or clearing your cookies and cache.... but even on my PC with cookies enabled, I received an error....
And, it says to contact your host.... there could also be a problem with the server's session.save_path. If this is the case, please consult your hosting provider if you don't know how to check or fix this yourself.
My suggestion, push your ISP for support or try HostGator.
My host has a tool to automatically install Joomla, I did this in another directory and my rocket launcher did not have the error. Deleted the auto install Joomla from my CP at bizland and was still error free. Just an FYI to what I'm clueless as to how it was fixed for any future searchers. I did however have to manually cut and paste my config php file and rename. Not sure if that is normal as it would not write to it.
