    • Mark,

Until this mention didn't know what a CDN was. I looked through the installed extensions and saw nothing listed as a CDN, including searching for all of these listed in a Joomla.org cdn search

In looking through the extensions carefully I did find one that seems out of place. It is called Roktracking and in Google searching it, it seems it has not been used since MissionControl with Rocketthemes.

I also searched as best I could through the descriptions for the main extensions and components used on our site including JomSocial, AV Chat, MijoSEF, and K2.

Otherwise I can find nothing that looks like it does anything to speed up the site or any of that stuff as what a CDN appears to do from my CDN search. That being said, I am more than willing to let you search through our installed extensions in case you see something. I had given you the admin log-ins some time ago.

    • CDN is more likely set at your hosting level - (like Cloudflare in Plesk) - check with your host.

Also check you host doesn't have some other form of server caching enabled in your apache installation.

    • Hey Mark,

I have confirmation from HostGator that they have no CDN software installed on our VPS or within our Apache installation.
That being said I am happy to give you log-in information to look at something that may be set that affects any of the caching on our HostGator VPS.

      Thanks, Blair

    • Ok, I'm out of ideas then Blair - we'll have to see what the DEVS say on the bug ticket.

    • Mark:
I have not heard from the DEVS But I want to run two things by you with this same issue. The problem has happened to us a couple of times since the Gantry moved from 4.1.17 to now 4.1.19
Now when it happens I cannot just upload a new gantry, but I have to restore the site from one of our backups we run automatically on Hostgator. Unfortunately I do not always know it has happened so one of the last ones allowed the whole site to be down for 12 hours.

#1 - the last 2 times it happen SEEM to correlate with the timing of a volunteer helper in the UK signing in using her cell phone. Now I know we have discussed this before but please hear me out as it relates to "Line 414". I have the multi-room chat set to open in a pop-up window. Then when someone is going to leave the chat they click a button which is supposed to take them back to the original site. (I am naive BUT is there a way that the pop-up cannot find its way back to the original so Line 414 creates this error? (I am a novice so be kind) ;-)

#2 - I LOVE our RocketTheme templates. They are all we use for a few years now. But our site HAS to stay online for survivors of abuse and bullying. We have the Leviathan template on the www.removingchains.org site. So if I switch to a different template that does not rely on Gantry, is it possible the problem will go away because the gantry is not even being used any more? The problem with that is that I assume all RocketTheme templates rely on the Gantry framework. Remember I love RT and do NOT want to switch but I have to ask this as the problem is becoming a large one for us and our sites stability that nobody seems to have a solution for.

      Thank you, Blair Corbett

    • Blair - you won't "hear from the DEVS" - they will look at the raised bug ticket and if they need more info they will ask me to ask you. Please note the DEVS are extremely busy people and it may be some time before they can look at this issue.

I'm sorry but I am completely out of ideas on this - this is why I raised a bug ticket. I understand the need to get your site working again - but this is not going to help us resolve the issue if we can't see the site in it's broken state - so I'm wondering if you could make a backup of the site and create a test environment of the site ? Then you could do all the things you suggest might be the cause and hopefully recreate the issue and LEAVE IT in that broken state? Obviously the test environment would need to be on the same server with exactly the same setup.

      Regards, Mark.

      Hi Mark,

I gave you the log-in info yesterday but realize now when I check back in that I did not tell you how to duplicate the error. What makes it happen is accessing our site, removingchains.org , VIA SMART PHONE DEVICE.

Once on the site log-in using the user provided then it takes you to the page where you can access the main chat rooms. Click to launch mobile chat. You can go into any of the rooms and just start leaving text comment, even if nobody else is there. At some point after about four to six messages its seems, the site will come back with that error, often after leaving the chat.

Fatal error: Call to a member function isEnabled() on a non-object in /home/removech/public_html/libraries/gantry/core/gantry.class.php on line 414

      hi there,

i just checked your site with my iphone4, logged in, went to one of the chatrooms and left about 10 messages (titled: Rt test #) and then logged out again. the is still displaying correctly on the iphone and also on the desktop. are there any other steps i need to take to replicate this or has this issue been resolved somehow?

      kat :)

    • Mark and Kat!

Mark, for the first time I tried something that you alluded to once back in our discussions. Instead of restoring or re-uploading gantry I went in the back-end and cleared the Cache and the site came back up!

But what does that mean?? I don't even have caching turned on? Is it on somewhere within Joomla and I don't know how to find it? The System cache isn't even enabled in our plug-in area, the the cache component is not accessible and protected it says. There is no other caching thing that I knowingly have on my site or within the Hostgator VPS.

    • Mark and Kat,
Here is a second major update besides the one that clearing Joomla cache brought the site back up.
I ran a test with me in Florida and a volunteer in the United Kingdom. We both logged in to chat using her Mac Book and all worked great. THEN she logged in with her Samsung Galaxy and we talked for a few lines in one of the rooms back and forth. As soon as she clicked 'Leave Chat" the site crashed while I was still there!
The same error message for Gantry popped up.
When I cleared the Cache in the admin area using a separate log-in the site returned to normal.

So, now we have one proven. She is willing to arrange a time to do this again IF you think we need her. But I think we can duplicate it ourselves using anyone with a Samsung cell phone, while at least one of us is also in the chat using a normal laptop or desktop. I can take part so the site can be reset right away, or if you don't want it reset so you can search the admin area at that point that works fine too.
      Thoughts?

    • Blair - honestly we don't know what else we can do to help here. We totally understand why you need to reset things when it breaks your site but it obviously prevents us from seeing the issue and being able to diagnose the root cause.

All I can really suggest now is that you use a cache cleaner as you stated. This one from Nonumber is very good and allows you to do regular automated clears of cache - http://www.nonumber.nl/extensions/cachecleaner - but you will need to purchase the pro version.

      Regards, Mark.
