I know it's not yet final, so not supported, but it's really around the corner, so worth a look
I was testing J3.2 RC, and tried to install Oculus template, and it didn't work, neither Gantry Standalone 4.1.17, got this error:
Fatal error: Class RokInstallerJAdministratorWrapper may not inherit from final class (JApplicationAdministrator) in /home/.../tmp/install_52778f17cc758/install.script.php on line 237
We are in the process of testing all our templates for j3.2 and we are aware of some issues (mostly the installer).

I'm getting the same error with the Cerulean template:
"Fatal error: Class RokInstallerJAdministratorWrapper may not inherit from final class (JApplicationAdministrator) in /home/sea20747/public_html/tmp/install_527b6b4c44439/install.script.php on line 237"
Which package did you use and how did you install it?
Which versions of Joomla?
Which template?
We're still in the process of updating all our installers to be compatible with J3.2.

Is there any workaround for this? An alternative way to "install by hand"?
Could I set up j3.1, install the template, then update to j3.2?
I was able to install j3.1 templates from another company in j3.2 successfully. If it is just the installer causing issues, maybe there would be a way to do this "by hand".
J3.2 came out yesterday and we've already uncovered lots of issues with it - If I were you I'd avoid it at the moment until Joomla release J3.2.1. But, if you must use it then I believe some people have has success doing as you describe - install J3.1 and add template and extensions then upgrade to J3.2 (but then you may not to be able to update some of our extensions later... we've released a lot with an updated installer - but there are some outstanding and there are some issues being reported).

Just wanted to add that installing 3J.2 on IIS7 / Gantry 4.1.8 didnt throw any errors but I am not able to change any of the template settings from the admin. They are showing saved in the template manager but are not taking effect on the frontend.
