SOLVED Gantry Admin panel layout broken after J3.2.1 update

Hello,
I have a site that has just been updated from J3.1.6 to J3.2.1. The site is using Gantry which has also been updated to 4.1.20. The site is very basic and only has a few other components and extensions installed, all of which are up to date as well.
After the update, Gantry's admin panel displays with a broken layout (see attached).

The controls and buttons all work and the front-end displays without any issue and it's only the toolbar area that is broken. Everything below the toolbar appears as expected.
The site is running locally so cannot be accessed online. I have cleared all caches, tried 3 different browsers, re-installed all Gantry related components and plugins etc. I have several other sites running J3.2.1/Gantry 4.1.20 on my localhost without issue so it's not a conflict with my PHP (5.3.27). I have also tried updating Joomla then Gantry and vice versa to see if the update order was the problem but the result is the same.
Although the site functions, obviously something is very wrong & I'd like to clear this issue up so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd be grateful for a lead.

A little more information on this problem...
I have just tried updating another completely different site. This site was running Joomla 3.1.5 with Gantry 4.1.18. Prior to updating, I checked the template and everything was fine with Gantry's admin panel.

I then updated Joomla to 3.2.1 and looked at the template's admin panel and noted it was now broken.

After that, I updated Gantry to 4.1.20 and noted Gantry's admin panel was still broken.

As I have said previously, I have deleted all site & browser caches. I have even tried reversing the order of the updates (Gantry > Joomla and Joomla > Gantry). Today I even tried updating using different PHP versions (5.3, 5.4 & 5.5) but the result is the same. I have tried updating on my localhost as well as on a live web server.
I did note that after updating Joomla to 3.2.1 and leaving Gantry at 4.1.18, although I could open the template admin panel, none of the buttons or controls functioned. However, after then updating Gantry to 4.1.20, the buttons and controls worked again although the layout of the toolbar remains broken.
I'm keen to get this resolved if anyone has any clues? I have a bunch of sites I was planning on upgrading but I'm reluctant to now that it appears to be some sort of conflict between Joomla and Gantry.

I can't replicate that. For sure php 5.5 can't work.
But I will ask the other mods for help. Can you send me superuser admin/user access via PM?

Really, 5.5 won't work? I have Joomla/Gantry running under 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5 on my localhost.
I will package up one of the sites with this problem and install in on a server and send you access.

Do you want the site set-up as it was before the update (J3.1.5/Gantry 4.1.18) or post update with the Gantry problems?

I don't know if this is related or not but if I turn on Joomla's error reporting to "maximum", I see lots of this:
Deprecated: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead in /libraries/rokcommon/RokCommon/Service/ContainerImpl.php on line 464
It shows up both front and back-end and repeats a lot (like I mean 100+ times down the page).
