Template Parameters Frozen

Have just installed Panacea bundle (template +gantry) v 1.5.1 on home server but finding that none of the parameters are responding to mouse clicks/drags. The tool tips show thats all.
In addition, the Joomla icons at the top of the page (preveiw, Edit HTML, Edit Css, save, apply, close) do not function. The Help button is the only one that functions. To leave page I have to use browser back button.
I uninstalled Template and reinstalled, in case any files were missing. This led to the activation of the Joomla buttons on Template parameters page, but parameters themselves were stil frozen.
In uninstalled, the Gantry Libray, and installed it again but got same result.
Has anyone got any ideas?

hi trevor,
did you try different browsers to see if that makes any difference?
also, what are the configurations of your server, especially which version of php is used?

Opera 10.6 - Frozen Parameters
Chrome 5.0375 - Success
PHP v5.3.0

- I could be mistaken here, but I don't believe that Joomla 1.5 is fully compatible with PHP 5.3.

joomla should be compatible with joomla 1.5.15 and above, please see the changelog here:

also all rockettheme extensions, templates and gantry should not have any issues with php 5.3, if you come across an issue, which you believe is related to 5.3 please let us know.

Have just tried something which seems to have fixed the frozen parameters.
I turned Gzip Page Compression to Yes, under Global Config/server tab and everything came to life in template parameters.
Any idea why this happened, and is GZIp a requirement for Gantry enabled templates?

Well you can't please everyone.
Found it now necessary to mention that the previous success after switching on GZIP page compression was with Firefox 3.6.
IE8 now offers a 'Stop running this script' message, warning that a script will cause warns that there is a script causing browser to run slow and will eventually cause windows to run slow.
When 'Yes' is selected- the resulting page is partially greyed, with no paramters working.
Choosing 'No', allows page to run as expected, although noticebaly slower.
Opera 10 work now-exceptionally fast
An Chrome hasnt skipped a beat.

glad you got this working now. i am not sure why enabled gzip page compression would help to fix this in your case, it is disabled in my test installs.
about ie8 the script error you are getting is related to ie's poor javascript performance. the gantry admin is loading a lot of javascript and all browsers handle it well except ie.
we recommend that you use any of the other browsers to change any of the template settings to avoid issues.

I Have a similar problem after updating Kinetic from 1.5.4 to 1.5.5 (manual upgrade replacing the files acording to changelog), and then upgrading Gantry 2.5.6 to the lastest Gantry release (3.0.6). Ganrty update was done by uninstaling and thne instaling ganrty component in Joomla Back Office. I have PHP 5.2.9 and Joomla 1.5.18
Most Kinetic parameters are 'frozen' in FF3.6.6 but check boxes and text boxes for parameters seting work (basicaly i think JavaScript is not working). In E7 (yes I have that) and Chrome 5.0.375.99 everything works ok
Curiously I have Crystalline instaled in the Back Office (though not using it in front end) and if I try to edit it's parameters everything works ok (in Firefox)
LATEST UPDATE - I Closed down Firefox, then restarted and did some sugested plugin updated (SQLite and PageSpeed I Believe) and now all works ok in FF. I must say i had some Firefox tabs iwth Facebook (heavy on JS/Ajax) so I wonder if this was part of the problem. I'M trying the Kinetic Template Edit + Facebook now in FF with no problem though.
I hope this helps sorting out the problem, though it seems an easey one to go around though
