      Thank you for taking the time to help track down the problem. I will take your advice and try creating a new menu to replace the corrupted mainmenu.

      I created a new menu and so far I'm able to save successfully with particles and modules and can go back and edit and save again, so I'm going to mark this one as solved - must have been a corrupted menu issue during the site server transfer I guess.
