SOLVED Sincere Q re: Joomla Template Release FrequencyI

    • I was originally a member about when Rockettheme began and several years after. Each month was so exciting waiting for the next template release. Later on it was changed to 4-6 weeks. Still exciting. I stopped for quite a few years due to health reasons, but recently decided to redo my website. Of course, returned to Rockettheme. It appears the last Joomla template was released 1 yr, 1 week ago. Am I missing something? Are the newer templates loaded elsewhere? As I explore my options for my website, I would love to learn how frequent Joomla templates are released by Rockettheme. Thanks for any help on this.

    • They have said multiple times that they reduced their team size and that they were focusing on template updates.

However yes the last template was over a year ago and the last update to a template shows as being in December, so 3 months ago.

So legitimately they need to do a much better job, even the blog entries on their site are outdated and talk about their plans for when Joomla 4 releases (nearly a year prior to the actual release), which was 6 months ago.

To me, buying a 1 month subscription or something is more reasonable than a 12 month subscription as you can get whatever template you need and 1 month of support. Clearly the recent track record leds you to believe that at most one or two templates per year at this point.

But again maybe they plan to ramp it back up but they need to "Communicate", which they are epicly failing at for the past year +.

RT Team, please communicate, update your blog posts on your front page, and tell people up front what the plan is.

Clearly charging people the same as always and only releasing 1 template a year if even, when you used to do monthly templates is a significant difference and needs explaining if you want people to keep paying. Right now if you already have your templates on your site in place, your subscription is for some support and the "occasional" bug fix, but nothing new.

Please just explain what's going on properly, put up a new blog post rather than one talking about how things will go when Joomla 4 releases (which dates back to 2020). You still have customers and clients who are supporting you yet get ZERO info on whats going on.

Just saying , our team got smaller, and we are working on template updates doesn't fly at this point. The last template update was 3 months ago.

A new blog post long or short can be done in 1 or 2 hours. Come on RT.

    • Also, is Andy Miller still involved in Rockettheme or has he moved onto to something else?

    • I do have the same question. I am a member for many many years and the support is fantastic. But I am also waiting for new templates.

And, Ellen, I share the same excitement from the early days when new templates came out much more frequently.

Would be great if someone can give us an answer about the release frequency.

    • I am sad to say that the delay in any response seems to be telling. It has been almost 5 days. Maybe they don't have an answer. Years back, if the template was a few days late, people would start posting. Of course, there would be immediate responses to those posts. I don't want to create any issues here - genuinely. I just need to know where to put my limited dollars for good quality templates and support. Years back - it was a no-brainer. It was Rockettheme of course. I was just hoping the answer would be the same in 2022. Apparently not. And it makes me sad.

    • I would say to wait to see what they say before spending any money.

On a side note, the Helium template on Gantry.org (created as the base template for all the RT templates) works great, is free and is quite customizable. I use it on 4 sites.

If that works for you, there's a free option with all the usual Gantry settings and layout options you would expect with a paid template.

RT you really need to reply and give some response.

Last template update was December 24, 2021 and last New template was over a year ago. So if you are winding down, just say so.

The red light is flashing here....:-((
I hope for the best since I consider RT + GANTRY Framework the best choice in the Joomla Template business.

    • Is this even open or are they just taking money for downloads and that's it?

The activity on this forum is like 2 McDonald's Happy Meals short of being non existent.

Sad, and like a few above have said, no reply or statement says all we need to know.

YooTheme seems like a good alternative at this point with regular updates (ie. more than one release per year).

I mean at this point, I have not been a paying customer for a few years and if there is a good template that drops I would be interested in paying to get access. But if all we get is one template per year, well then its one chance per year with me to get me paying again. Still waiting for something worth paying for.
