    • Let's not begin to offended at each other?
Ok. ) Not first question, not last question. )

UPD: I just try to imagine how some "standard system" fonts are pre-rendered some way.

    • Hi there,

there is no general answer to this.
Choosing "local" (self hosted) vs. hosted has quite a few aspects.

For google fonts: It's matter of fast the google cdn can deliver the font.
While in theory google should have the best delivery network ... in real life I experienced drastic slow loading times.
Not in general ... but sometimes it's slow.
The same applies for Typekit. And Adobe Cloud customers may remember the downtimes of the Adobe type service.

With self-hosted fonts you have everything under control. But you have deal with differnt font formats for different browsers.
With self-hosted fonts you also have the option for more self taylored subsets ... wich can make fonts much smaller (=faster).

Last but not least ... it's a matter licences and rights. Most fonts are restricted - and using in the web is problematic.
Using a font service is a safe way to deal with rights.
