Am trying to shift a site from a Yootheme template over to Kraken. Its running fine on PHP 7.2 with plenty of allocated memory and it is my own VPS. The site has been around a while and previously had a G4 theme years back but because of many users and complex access permissions I chose to migrate it up from J2.5 rather than build from scratch.
So I cannot properly uninstall the old G4 parts there and tried reinstalling and removing which was part successful.
Then when I go to install Gantry 5 the installer crashes to a blank screen. Gantry 5 files are listed under manage but it doesn't seem to be installed properly and cannot be removed. From the front end of the site the entire main menu is gone and it won't come back. Trying to install subsequent components seemingly fails from this point.
Anything you can suggest as to how I get round this? Does the Yootheme template need to be removed first so Warp does not clash, or?
Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and I'll have a look for you.
Please post your FTP logon, password and FTP URL in the secure area of your post.

I have a copy of the site installed the path under the secure tab with login there.
I have left the live site separate so 200 or so ppl can keep using it and hopefully if I get the copy working I can continue to build the new version and replace the dated ACL software in it there or strip out the core framework using migrateme+ into a clean install. Either way its a heap of fun but better than starting again from scratch!
Both your log an tmp folders are unwriteable (see screenshot). So check the location, and if that is correct check permissions and owner/group. You can change the log and tmp paths in Joomla > global configuration

on both the original and duplicate site FTP shows 755 and so does Akeeba Admin yet only Joomla core on the copy site only says unwritable even after I have run a permissions fix so I will check the config just to be sure.
Therefore I am not sure if this is the issue as I had this problem on the original site where the permissions were fine and I also installed Remnant to another subdomain there with no issues but I will investigate further. Trouble is as soon as I install it breaks and kills the side menu on that site and then nothing else will install after Gantry. Do you have any other ideas about what this may be as I get no permissions error, I just get a disappeared menu and a broken site.
Check owner/group with FTP i’ll Bet those folders are owned by Apache instead of your ftp user.

No, they are all 1013/1015 ow/gr across the whole site...
Yet Joomla and only Joomla claims unwriteable and only in the copy site.
Need to note that I had a copy earlier on another subdomain before I put it on this one. Same issue - install Gantry 5 and the main menu on the site is gone for good and subsequent installs are corrupted and incomplete - ie updating securitycheck showed it listed as a component under manage but its component menu entry gone for good.
You're welcome to go install gantry on the copy and see what it does if you have time. I've already reinstalled this site 4 times today after it being screwed by that..
As the log and temp directories are not writeable the installation fails. Please post FTP login details in secure.

Ok, so I got everything to fully writeable as per Joomla and scoured the config file.
Same issue same crash same annhilation of the menus and now broken unavigable site.
Have pasted the fatal error where it says there are not enough resources, yet I yesterday previously installed Gantry and Remnant to the public facing site for this client with not a hitch on another subdomain of exactly the same domain as we are rebranding so it seems to me either Gantry or this site. The box is running PHP 7.2, latest WHM is only using under half its memory, has 57gb free I have arguably the best of home internet connections with 50mbs upload in AU and downgrading PHP makes no difference.
I will ask the host of my VPS, but it does seem to be just this site so if you can take a further look I would appreciate. I have put the error message and FTP deets in secure.
Ultimately the site is very unwell and I cannot get to the bottom of what is causing it to fail on memory constantly. Seems like it could be something that uninstalled badly and that's now clashing with 3.9. I suspect I am going to have to rebuild it and that is going to take a while. I just want to be able to see if I can get migrate me plus on there and pull out the core structure and users.
