    how to use plugins

Posted 14 years 10 months ago
    • I'm trying to put short films onto my site. I got the allvideo plugin, but I don't know how to work it. I mean besides it being downloaded, I don't know how to actually get the video onto the site and how to view the video player. Thanks in advance for your help!

    • ok, so I had to completely change the extension I was using. The all video wasn't what I was looking for. I realized that was only for articles and I need it to be for a module. I found the simple video flash player, however I am having a hard time putting the film in the player. I don't have actual films that come from online....is that a total problem?? is there anyway or any other module player that will allow me to put films that aren't online? Thanks!

    • There is a module contained, at least in the "Allvideo Reloaded" component, which will display a video in a module position.

    • So are you all set?

Please note, when you use a 3rd party component, you need to use their documentation to get started and if the component doesn't work with your template, that's when you should post in the forum for the template you are using.

We really can't give support for every extension that is out there.

    • Ok well I am back to square one, and I think my initial question wasn't worded properly. I have installed the allvideo reloaded but I think my problem is in getting the media onto the site to be able to put into the module. When I uploaded the module it said to possibly change the global configuration if we can't get the videos up and I tried doing that but I don't know what to change without making a mess out of everything. I apologize for making such a mess out of this situation. Thanks for your help though.

    • The links to the documentation I posted previously tell you which folder to load the videos to and what syntax to use for the video format you are using.

It's well documented, I don't know what other advice I can offer, I use a few joomlaworks extensions and have gotten videos or slide shows to work without issues.

Please check the documentation again or search or post on their forum.

It's always good to have a backup system in place.

If you are adding components or making major changes, back up your site before doing so so if you get into a bind, you have a good back up to revert to.

    • The "Allvideos Reloaded" component comes with a module to display local and remote videos. It even has a button to include the videos so u dont have to use the macros, i.e. "{youtube}video-id{/youtube}".

If the stock allvideo component doesnt has this, remove it incl. the plugins and install the "Reloaded" Version: allvideos.fritz-elfert.de/

Then check the documentation on how to include local video-sources. The source files should be somewhere under "images/stories/videos", if i remember correctly, and then you just need to include either a macro with the relative path to the local media, i.e. "{avi}myvideo.avi{/avi}" OR use the nice "AVR Media" Button from within the editor or the display module.

      cheers,

      Arnd

    • Thanks for the help. I am not sure what is going on. It isn't the module and I have read and reread the documentation, but when I go to upload the video it says, "JFolder::files: Path is not a folder
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/shortssh/public_html/administrator/components/com_avreloaded/views/insert/view.html.php on line 185."

I am sorry for causing the trouble in the wrong forum, so I will move on. But thanks for the help.
