Nothing is set in stone until there is a stable release.
Consider that the basic core template itself is 50% of the equation, and getting Gantry to seamlessly integrate with J1.6 is the other 50%.
(To date, there is no news on whether moving from J1.5 > J1.6 will be an upgrade or migration.)
When J1.6 is released, you can expect RT to release compatible templates soon after. - Thanks,
