have you made sure everything you did with the JSMF bridge was undone? that is usually what causes this problem.
I think I did - is there maybe something I am missing or I don't know about???

when you installed it, it asked you to patch joomla and smf files.. did you unpatch those before you uninstalled the component. - Billy Zoellers

when you installed it, it asked you to patch joomla and smf files.. did you unpatch those before you uninstalled the component.
I did not unpatch those files - now I can't do anything from the admin screen - can I un-patch them manually????

that works for me sometimes, but other times it's acted a little weird. bridges aren't fun all the time :-/

Exactly Billy.
Backups are CRITICAL to have, especially before doing something such as installing a bridge.
It's lot's faster to make a backup than it is to re-do a site.
