    • I just checked and the August template is not yet available. This is a point of frustration and one of your own making because you do such good work! :D

Please help us plan better by communicating release dates in advance. A good place to put this information would be on the RT Joomla templates home page:

      www.rockettheme.com/joomla

At whatever point you have an anticipated release date for a template, we would request that you make that information public. Especially for developers like us, it would be very helpful to have advance notice so that we can plan our work schedules (to take time to learn the new template, test them, etc.) as well as when we can send to our customers newsletters encouraging them to consider the new template for website redesigns, etc.

Thanks in advance for any advance notice you can give to us as part of your regular operation!

P.S. The same, of course, can be said of your other offerings: extensions, phpBB styles, etc. would each benefit by having their "home" pages have a release schedule (even estimated release schedule) announced as soon as you know them.

    • On the first day of each month, any new Joomla extensions, extension updates and THEN the new Joomla template is released. Downloading may commence around 12:00 p.m. RT time. As to the other templates, I don't know their release schedule.

Rarely are they late. IF there is a delay, we are usually notified in advance or as promptly as possible.

If you'd like to join the fun and keep up with any new developments, PLUS relieve some stress while awaiting the new releases, join us here... (recommend you bookmark the page)

    • I think it is reasonable that RT provide explicit release schedules and communicate better. RocketTheme is a business, not a volunteer effort, right?

Customers should not have to guess when releases will be made. Not having explicit release dates makes it harder for us to plan and advise others who might also need to plan. Effective communication is all about getting the information out as soon as possible.

And, while we do enjoy our work, fun is not the primary goal. Making money by delivering software and website solutions on time is our primary goal. Our customers expect us to keep them informed with information as soon as we have that information. It is the responsible thing to do so people can plan.

RT's untimely communication is a valid criticism that doesn't diminish RT's other accomplishments.

    • Dude, it's creative stuff. Top edge, too. There are bugs that need to be worked out.
No biggest template clubs provide the exact schedule. All can run late for a few days.
Business? Yes, but how many software companies release their products exactly the day they planned? Even if they had 2 years to work on it.
It's just impossible for the template industry.
They maximum we ask is that they provide beta previews in screen shot, so that we can see design and layout.

    • In plain english:

Release Schedule = FIRST DAY OF MONTH, at or around 12:00 Mountain Standard Time. Any variance is posted A.S.A.P. (as in, as soon as they know it will be delayed, they tell us.)

Now that you are aware of the above schedule, you can plan your business accordingly.
Next: RocketTheme is a business, not a volunteer effort, right?

      Yes and yes.

They are a "club" in the business of making templates for the "members." They bend over backwards to accomodate our needs and should be acknowledged for it.

Frankly, we don't pay them HALF what they are worth to us and MOST of the staff is underpaid, not to mention the numbers of volunteers we have around here (members who take time from THEIR busy schedules to help other members with their design woes).

      The short stack:

There IS a schedule. Now you have it. The "patience" part of the bargin while awaiting the first of the month is on you. LOL

We have a complete staff of educated, experienced, talented, devoted, industrious, seriously motivated web devlopers and designers right here working just for us. How much time and money do YOU save using their templates and how much do you GET?

Bottom line is, if you aren't satisfied, feel free to shop around. I can tell you first hand,
IT DON'T GET NONE BETTER.

    • Steve,

you sell unreleased designs to your clients? Seriously? Without having seen them before, before you even tested them yourself? Well thanks for your confidence in the dev/design team.
The topic of release dates has been discussed so often it hurts. You get them when they are ready. If they are later than a day or two Andy will probably make an announcement for that (as he did before). Your request has been received. But as you know yourself RT releases Joomla templates almost always on the first of each month (probably useless to say "TOS: one template each month"). No need for release schedules imho.

    • Steve, I'm not dissing you here, but I just viewed your profile and you've been around a while. If you are in the "business," why would you not understand the "consistent" schedule after a couple of years? I mean, have you not noticed the pattern, bro?

As to release dates and what you get for your money, how many people do "you" employ for a site design? If you use an RT template..... MANY! And "our" support staff (they are "my" team and "my" support staff also) is outstanding.

These guys release a new template every MONTH like clockwork. Check the other clubs. They "promise" a template a month, but how many do you actually "see" produced? Generally speaking, 3 to 4 a year. Some not even that... and that's just for Joomla. We have eye candy for all the major formats, styling for "other" extensions and our own custom, quality extensions out the yeng yang... etc., etc., etc.! Wooo hoo! Can "YOU" do that? <grin>

Be happy with our candy. RT produces the "premium" they promise and for a mere pittance of what it would cost us to produce the consitent quality we have grown to expect.

So, are you just having a bad day? Perhaps getting tired of the F5 and the anticipation of a new template is overwhelming you? Or maybe you've got a deadline and you are feeling pressured. You are free to vent here. We have all "been there, done that" and we feel your pain, brother.

      LOL!

    • Hi there,

Our commitment is to release a template each month and we do not have a specified release date.

While we aim to get templates out on the first of each month that is just our goal. As we saw last month there were a few problems and we were delayed. We did announce that, once we were in a position to give a realistic time frame.

I hope this clarifies things. 8)

    • Are you (empowermom) employed by RocketTheme and authorized to speak for them? I really want an official answer, not just an opinion (we all have those). They are a legal business . They don't represent themselves as anything other than a for-profit company, just as we are a for-profit company. And, they are asking for what the market will bear and are getting exactly what their product is worth. Basic economics.

And, I don't believe you when you say there is a schedule. Where is it shown on their website? You might not need a timely business relationship with them, but we do. Hence, we make reasonable requests for improved communication. If you feel satisfied with them, that's fine. We are expressing an issue for which we are not satisfied.

And, David... thanks for your info. But, it only clarifies that you are not currently providing release schedules in advance. I would encourage RT to do better.

    • Well someone put some vinegar in your Wheaties this morning, didn't they?

While it's true I'm not a member of the staff, I have been a paying (and, I might ADD... productive, helpful, contributing) member for some years now, which gives me experience and the knowledge to answer your question. This, in addition to the fact I've been desiging websites for DECADES so I know what is involved in the "process." To most normal business people, that would warrant a bit more respect for my "opinion" than you have shown today.

While this is a "business," it is "club" oriented and depends upon the members to support what they supply us. That stated, a perusal of the TOS shows no promise of the number and/or frequency of the templates. You get what you see posted.... ALL of it. So MOST would consider it a PeRk to have a new template every month to play with. And you "should" play with them before tossing to a client.

As to my "authorization" to speak for the club..... they call them "member supported" forums for a reason, sweetness.

If, after over two years of membership, you haven't got "it" yet, there's no one twisting your arm to renew.

Personally, I don't like people harassing "my" staff with questions long ago answered. They have important things to do.... like getting our template out on time today.

Nuff said now Mr. Grumpy?
