Problem with Camber and RokNewsPager

    • I am wondering if someone can help me,

I installed the Camber template and modified it so I had the RokNewsPager on the front page to the right of the main images on this website, www.naturalmedia.biz . I had 7 articles in total, 3 articles displayed at once in an elastic style, which when clicked in the pager would display below on the frontpage. However other articles on other tabs would not display on the frontpage and kept jumping to a component/articles/id address and display on a page entirely devoted to themselves. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the RNPager, successfully, Unfortunately the pager although present in the modules folder does not show up in the administrator modules panels so it can be configured. If a moderator or other tech wiz could get in touch with me to help I would be happy to provide access details,

      Regards,

      Charles

    • I guess you are using Joomla 1.7?
      1. go to the module manager an create a new module
      2. disable the "menu less pages"-feature

    • Thanks for your suggestions,

I have done a new clean install and so the current Camber template is installed new onto a Fast CGI running hosting platform. However I still seem to have a key difference between this template and the Rocket theme DEMO.

If I click on title in the the Rok News Pager on any article (or read more button) other than on those on the front page, a new article is generated and it is not displayed on the frontpage, but goes to a new "article" section.

      www.naturalmedia.biz

I am thinking that the inconsistency renders the template and the layout I was hoping for useless, so I would very much appreciate any thoughts on the matter,

      Cheers

    • that menu-less-pages-feature can also be "set per menu item" (J1.5) or "template-copy" (J1.7).
      Check that.
That feature enables you to show modules with articles that are not controlled via menu-items.
If you disable that feature (don't forget per menu-item-settings or template-copy (in J1.7) ) the links will just show the article (without modules). If you enable that feature it shows the modules from a menu-item (that you can specify in the template settings) with the article ...

    • Henning,

I appreciate your consideration of the problem, I have disabled the menu item feature, however it made no difference. I was hoping to show all articles in the menu of the RN Pager, from 1-8 on the front page when activated.

At the moment some do, namely if I set the count of articles to be displayed to 5 in the module I get those 5 on the front page displayed only. This differs from the DEMO which despite if the menu item is on the first or third page of the RN pager menu, clicking on the menu title, will place the related article on the front page. I would not mind if one way was consistent, all displayed on front page or all as separate articles.

      eg.

      www.naturalmedia.biz/index.php/15-demo-content/roknewspager/28 vs.
      www.naturalmedia.biz/index.php/component...tent/roknewspager/34

      Your thoughts,

      Thank you

    • hmmm ... not sure to be honest.
It's different in the 1.5 Rocketlauncher
I'm not sure where the difference is.
I will ask the other mods if they now why it's behaving that way.
In the 1.5 RL they display all the same ...

    • Hi Henning,

I wonder if you would not mind finding out about the bug with RF Newspager is to do with the Camber template or module, or Rocketpack?

Do you suggest I uninstall the Camber template, and then download a standalone version and install it, and likewise with the RF Newspager module? Although when I did this with the module it never showed up again in the module lists. Although I think you said to go create new (module) and attempt to select RF Newspager and then it will appear?

    • Hi Henning,

Sorry to say I am really frustrated with the Camber template, nothing seems to have fixed my issues, that are multiplying. The template will not display or accept HTML commands such as float left for elements placed inside tabs,. The tabs themselves will not display content as shown in the demo. I have no idea what the issues can be as installing from scratch with a rocketlauncher is supposed to ensure no contamination in installing items separately, ie. Gantry, template, extensions.

I tried to reinstall a RokNPager module this made no difference to that problem. I am seem to be just wasting time.
