While stumbling around looking for info on responsive web design for a new client project, I found a few responsive forks of the 960.gs that Gantry is built on. I also discovered
adapt.js
.
I was wondering whether or not you would consider using responsive design in any of your future templates or even adding something like adapt.js into Gantry as a core feature? I think it would be a far more elegant method of adding mobile support than the current approach.
I'm working on my own responsive Joomla templates at the moment, but I'd love to see it added to Gantry in a more professional way than my duct-tape and old rope implementation!!
We're certainly going to move in a direction of responsive layouts for Gantry4. I've been doing some extensive research already on the best approach to this.
That IS great news! I just built a responsive website for my most recent client, and I used a responsive Wordpress theme on Wordpress (obviously). I think it's a pretty neat concept, and I'm glad (and not surprised) to hear you guys are working on it. Y'all are brilliant. :cheesy:

Well it seems as if JoomlaBamboo and JoomlaXTC are having no issues with with their efforts and releases of responsive themes. In the WP world, pretty much anyone who is anyone in theme development is putting out responsive themes on a weekly basis. I can't believe that WP has eclipsed Joomla as the go to CMS. I would be worrying less about third party development and more about keeping the existing business model alive by adapting to the needs and wants of the marketplace, that being responsive design.
