    • Hi Henning,
thanks for you post... ok, adapt.js have somes problems:
A potential drawback of Adapt.js is the possibility of a brief flash of unstyled content as a new stylesheet is being fetched (think of it as “Ajax” for CSS). I have done my best to mitigate this by keeping CSS files small (3 KB). It is worth noting this is a proposed, not prescribed, approach to a problem with multiple solutions.
but, is a big step, because gantry is my favorite framework, I dont want change to another, just because it is responsive.

      anyway, works fine!

    • I thought I saw a recent twitter post about Gantry 4 being in it's final stages of development. Is there a chance that the July theme could be responsive? Thanks!

It's a few months away. There are a lot of things that follow after it's full developed (testing, bug fixing, etc) which takes ample amounts of time :)

    • Rocketheme as to catch up with other providers which are already providing responsive template for some time,
By the looks of it !!!
it will be only by next year that we are going to see a responsive template by Rocketheme, that's my perspective until i am prove otherwise.

    • The competition is not really ahead because they have much more simple solutions. Please read the post by Andy: www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=15..._v=viewtopic#p817345

    • The self-adjusting content seem to be a trend, A response to viewers looking at web content on many type and dimension of screens (Iphone, Tablet, oversize computer screen...).

Personally I like the idea... It make a lot of sens.

The only think I’m worry about is to have ONLY “Responsive” Template. Some sites need to have a carefully plan and visually organize content and some other need total control on what is presented to iPhone or tablet viewer. In fact, the content for Iphone/tablet can be completely different or adapted to them. “Responsive” Design will not work for those or will have to be really under control.

I think “Grid” Design will be still needed, at least until “Responsive Design” will be precise enough to achieve “Grid” Design (with some flexibility (Like Mosaic) and/or complete flexibility (with total Control)

You will need a lot of fine tune control in that system to be able to present a professional looking content with “Responsive” Template.

I saw some of these design using those “Resize” tricks with disputable results. Really happy to here about Rocket Mosaic... A really controllable design with Gantry and the possibility to “Go Responsive” is a perfect middle-ground solution.

As Devs of the successful Gantry framework, I believe that Rocket reserve Us some surprises in that “Responsive” business...

    • I will be putting together an updated blog post in the next week or so about this very topic. Basically we have some pretty grand plans for supporting responsive layouts in our templates. These will take full shape in Gantry4. We're really putting all our effort into making Gantry4 as fast as possible, and also as flexible as possible with built-in support for Responsive design from the start. This will mean it will borrow a lot from Gantry3 but out of necessity will not be backwards compatible. Unfortunately our rather grand plans to change the way you work with Joomla when it comes to templates, modules and menus means that this is some time out. We are working on it, but it's a huge amount of effort.

In the meantime, in the near future we are going to release a template based on Gantry3 with responsive capabilities. As you may know we built Gantry to be very flexible and it actually can quite easily support responsive layouts. Now we have RokSprocket that was also built to handle responsive layouts, we are able to create a powerful responsive solution using the existing version of the framework and extensions.

I will go into more details in the blog post, but needless to say, a responsive template is not too far off! We just don't want to create a very basic layout that compromises the design for desktop browsers.

    • So we have to wait another 2 months or so for a responsive template from Rocketheme, so that means by the end of the year.

    • We are all making money because of the work guys at Rockettheme do - I say take your time and come out with a great, STABLE solution... incomplete products will give us all nothing but headache.

Clients on the other hand don't event know what responsive means let alone demanding it.

I am looking forward to responsive gantry but truth is its more for me and for clients at this point.
