my template will not allow me to update it anymore

  • my template will not allow me to update it anymore

Posted 12 years 9 months ago
    • Hi, I have the template "crystalline" from March 2010. We used it for several months (May-December 2011) and it worked great. Since mid December, we can not make any updates to the template. We can't change background colors or anything.

We have had some guys look at it and they say the permissions are right, the database had no corrupt files, and the cache has been cleared. The template still will not update.

When you go to template manager and change something like the background colors and you click apply or save, a circle simply comes up and goes around and around and never gives an error or saves the changes. Is this common? Does anyone know how to fix it?

      Thanks.

    • It could be that the template, Gantry or other stuff is not up-to-date. Might be a clash with other extensions as well...

    • I don't really understand what I am supposed to do... If it is out of date how do I get it up to date? It says my subscription ended in July of 2011... Am I going to have to pay again to fix the template if it is updated? Shouldn't "future" updates be included in the price?

    • Can I purchase just one template?
We believe the club model that RocketTheme uses is the best solution for our users. We provide short term memberships with single entitlements that enable a single template usage for a small fee. But we also provide longer term memberships that allow our users to change their minds, and change templates, as well as providing more entitlements.

Can I download template available during my membership when my membership has expired?
No, membership entitles you access to the downloads and club-only areas of the forum. When your membership expires, you no longer have access to these club benefits and you must renew to regain access.

This was taken from the RT FAQ page :)

    • So I can buy a single entitlement, which is all my church needs, and that lasts a certain amount of time. Once that expires, you guys can "update" these templates forcing us to either lose our entire website or pay more money? That seems like crap... Since I bought the template, the template should work. In essence, you guys could simply tweak a little stuff every few months and force everyone to continue giving you money. I just don't get how that is good business or how it really helps small companies like mine who cant afford to pay a web guy in the first place.

    • What if I buy this "update" that you are forcing me to buy and in 6 months you do it again? How do I know that you guys are not going to constantly do this? I thought the whole idea was with the $60 you get an entitlement and that entitlement is your product that is supposed to work. Someone tell me how this is ethical and good business.

    • The entitlement never expires so you can use the template as long as you want.

The only thing that needs to be renewed is the access to the forum and the downloads area but only if you really need access to it.

You can of course choose to never update but it's up to you and not recommended since Joomla, templates and extensions gets updated all the time.

We are not forcing anyone to upgrade, only recommending :)

If you want me to take a look, send me a PM with FTP access and Joomla super admin details.
