I wasnt quite sure where to post this question... my membership has just expired, and I thought there was no point renewing until the Mynxx 2.5 template gets released.
I am curious to know will this be compatible with the latest release of virtuemart as well?
Hi, at some point it will be, when that happens remains to be seen. One big issue is Virtuemart. Right now, the stable version of Virtuemart - 2.0, is not fully compatible with Joomla 2.5. They have a beta version of 2.0.1 that is compatible, however the later versions of the beta have changed the file structure of Virtuemart considerably, as they are going to an MCV model, which is better, but at this time there is not a stable release that they are offering of this. This means that all extensions that are VM 2.0 compatible will need to be redone to support 2.0.1, not just ours, every developer. It's a big change from 2.0 to 2.0.1.
I'm working on a VM site right now and I've been dealing with this for a month, so trust me when I say VM is a mess right now. In order to make it work on 2.5, I have to give up all my extensions, as they don't work with the beta version. I don't see us releasing any updates for Mynxx until VM releases a stable and fully compatible 2.5 version.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
I'm thinking about installing a new system and renew my Rockettheme subscription.
On the server are PHP 5.1.6 and MySQL 5.0.95 installed.
Therefore I should install Joomla 1.5. It looks like VirtueMart 2 fits to this.
Are there any recommendations for Rockettheme templates which fit good to VirtueMart 2 and Joomla 1.5?
The site I'm thinking about will be an ebook shop.
Hi, currently we do not have any templates that will work with Virtuemart 2. The only template we have that offers Virtuemart styling is Mynxx and as I said earlier, it's not yet compatible with the new version. It is under development, no official release date is available at this time unfortunately.

I have the same problem as well. I'm looking forward for a Mynxx 2.5 (joomla 2.5 and vm 2.x.x). The big point to switch from vm 1.1.x to vm 2.x.x for me is the chance to create multilingual shop.
At this point, as you tell us that vm 2 is not ready yet, I was trying to use joomfish for the translation. But even with joomfish I'm not able to translate vm articles and vm product.
I am using joomla 1.5.25, Mynxx 1.5.7, vm 1.1.9 and Joom!Fish 2.2.3.
Any suggestion or joomfish isn't compatible with Rockettheme Mynxx?
I'm not sure of any compatibility issues with Mynxx and Joomfish. If you're trying to translate VM content, you might want to check Virtuemart forums to see if there are any issues, none of our products will translate content into another language. Our templates simply provide a design, they do not assist or hinder translation efforts. This sounds more like a Virtuemart issue to me.

Rockettheme has been my template of preference for almost all my clients. Given the quality and the support, the reason is obvious.
The one glaring gap currently is a template for Virtuemart. Reading this thread, I'm pleased to see that there are plans to provide a version for Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2x
I'm unclear why it should take so long, as Virtuemart 2 has much more compatibility in this version, as far as templating is concerned.
Can we have an update with an estimated timescale? A committment here would enable me to update my clients for whom I've built an Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart 1.x site. I get the impression, there are a lot of people who would be pleased at the appearance of not just one, but perhaps several templates which can be offered for use with Virtuemart.
Hi, as said, the 2.5 version of Mynxx is under development. I think like a lot of developers, we're waiting for VM 2.0.1 to come out, as in that version, everything changes and any VM 2.0 products will need to be updated again. Trust me, I've worked with the 2.0.1 beta, and it's a big difference. The entire file structure has been converted to a MCV format, which is better, but very different than even the 2.0 version.
My feeling is that VM templates are not a big priority for us, that is why we never released any others even though we've had a few eCommerce templates since Mynxx. VM itself is flawed, has virtually no support, and generally needs to be hacked up to do what you need. We can't take all of that into account when developing templates, as it's impossible to provide support with hacked components as we can only design them to work with the core files. While Mynxx was a popular template, it's proven to be a burden on the moderators and developers for those reasons. I would suspect that is also a factor in why there hasn't been any updates.

Thanks for your clear reply, Cliff - it's appreciated.
I'm not sure I agree with your analysis. Sure, support has been poor for years, but it seems to have improved. The development cycle has increased since they started on Version 2 and now that the templates are separated from the guts, I suspect it's on the right track.
Although it may not be a prority, there are an awful lot of Virtuemart sites out there and the quality of templates could benefit a lot from your touch.
