Multilingual and multiple layouts?

  • Multilingual and multiple layouts?

    • Iam not completely sure how to follow multilingual set up if some pages have a different layout?
for example all of my pages have showcase a and b in the ratio 9|3

only my contact page has layout in the same positions just 4|8

now I have created different template overrides for my menus, do I have to create different template overrrides for each language for each languages contact page?
      please see screenshot:

      is it correct this way?
which template layout would other pages have to follow?
default master or each language again?

      thanks in advance

    • yes create overrides for each language is the clearest way.

    • didnt quite understand? what about the default Master template?
is it taking care of all other layouts no matter what language if its not assigned?

    • yes master holds default everything - overrides (assigned to a page) change whatever is changed in the override for that page.

    • sorry I know Iam probably a pain,
but the thing is I went couple times trough this exccellent Tutorial:
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=92...04985&rb_v=viewtopic

and what is confusing me is the image where I see that the template menu language overrides have been assigned to the language and not to menu items like module positions and module variations override? so should I set the position (that should be default on all pages except contact page) inside the menu language override as well? if its already set inside the default master template? or?

    • the template manager works in this way - think of it as a cascade....

Assigned template OVERRIDE settings (for those that are set)
      DEFAULT language OVERRIDE
      MASTER

Modules are assigned to menu items

menu items are assigned to TEMPLATE (see cacade above).

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean?

      Regards, Mark.

    • no no, you got me right... so master comes last one?
but, do I have to assign a module layout override in each language if ist supposed to be the same in Master and in all languages? except the contact page?

    • I don't really understand...

Create an OVERRIDE for the contact page with only OVERRIDEs for the layout
the rest of the template set-up will be picked up from the language OVERRIDE template (set as default for language). Anything else would be picked up from the MASTER.

    • ok... so if in my language template I have set only the menu, that means "Anything else would be picked up from the MASTER"

    • I guess so provided you have no other OVERRIDE (other than the language one).
